The goal of this observational study is to learn about dietary quality and barriers to healthy eating among older adults who participate in the Los Angeles County Food Rx Produce Distribution Program. The study will also evaluate whether a newer dietary assessment tool, the Global Diet Quality Questionnaire (GDQQ), performs similarly to an established dietary assessment tool, the Mediterranean Diet Scale (PREDIMED MDS), in measuring diet quality among adults aged 60 years and older. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Is the GDQQ associated with diet quality scores measured by the PREDIMED Mediterranean Diet Scale? - Does the GDQQ predict self-reported body mass index (BMI) as well as or better than the PREDIMED Mediterranean Diet Scale? - What barriers and facilitators influence healthy eating and participation in produce distribution programs among older adults? Participants will: - Complete questionnaires about their dietary habits, demographic characteristics, and food access experiences. - Complete two dietary quality assessment tools: the PREDIMED Mediterranean Diet Scale and the Global Diet Quality Questionnaire. - If randomly selected, participate in a one-time semi-structured interview to discuss healthy eating, food access, experiences with produce distribution events, and challenges to improving dietary quality.

This study examines whether Clinically Designed Improvisatory Music (CDIM) can reduce anxiety in people living with Alzheimer's disease and anxiety (AD-A), and whether it can also lessen caregiver burden. CDIM is a live, receptive music-based intervention that uses slow tempi, simple diatonic melodic lines, soft dynamics, and periodic pauses to promote relaxation. As described in the proposal, CDIM has previously been shown to reduce stress and improve physiological markers such as heart rate, blood pressure, and EEG alpha/beta ratios (CDIM significantly decreased physical stress symptoms and patients also reported positive emotional outcomes and EEG readings showed increased alpha/beta brainwave ratios ). The study will enroll 30 dyads (individuals with AD-A and their caregivers). Dyads will be randomly assigned to either CDIM or a control intervention (CI) consisting of calming short stories read aloud. Both interventions include eight 30-minute sessions over four weeks, delivered in alternating in-person and virtual formats. The primary goal is to determine whether CDIM is feasible and effective in reducing anxiety in individuals with AD-A, measured by the Rating Anxiety in Dementia (RAID) scale, and in reducing caregiver burden, measured by the Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI). The study also evaluates changes in heart rate and blood pressure as indicators of autonomic regulation. A second goal is to explore whether CDIM improves central auditory processing, assessed using the frequency-following response (FFR). The proposal notes that central auditory processing declines with age and dementia and may contribute to anxiety. FFR will be measured before and after the intervention to determine whether CDIM enhances neural timing and response magnitude. Overall, this pilot study aims to determine whether CDIM is a feasible, safe, and potentially effective non-pharmacological intervention for reducing anxiety in individuals with AD-A and decreasing caregiver burden, while also investigating its underlying neurophysiological mechanisms.

The main purpose of this study is to find out whether inobrodib, when given with pomalidomide and dexamethasone, works better than standard treatment for people whose multiple myeloma has come back or has not improved after previous treatment. The study will look at how long people taking part in the study ("Participants") live without their myeloma getting worse, and how many people's myeloma improves (responds) following treatment. The study will also look at how long participants live overall, how quickly treatment works, how long the response lasts, whether very small amounts of myeloma can still be found after a good response, quality of life, side effects, and the amount of inobrodib in the blood. Participants receive treatment in 28-day cycles. One group receives inobrodib by mouth twice a day for 4 days, followed by 3 days without inobrodib each week; pomalidomide by mouth once a day on Days 1 to 21 of each cycle; and dexamethasone once each week. The other group receives 1 standard treatment chosen by the study doctor from the following treatment options: daratumumab, pomalidomide, and dexamethasone; elotuzumab, pomalidomide, and dexamethasone; or carfilzomib and dexamethasone. Some standard treatments are given by injection or infusion at the study site. Other medicines, such as tablets or capsules, may be taken by mouth as instructed by the study team. Study checks include questions about symptoms and side effects, review of other medicines, physical checks, blood pressure and other vital sign checks, heart tracing tests, blood and urine tests, scans where needed, bone marrow samples, and questionnaires about symptoms and daily life. Participants in the inobrodib group will have extra blood samples to measure the amount of inobrodib in the blood. Some participants may also have extra research blood samples at selected visits.

The rationale for this study is to observe the impact of a consumer-grade commercially available product called Milamend Hormone Balance on quality of life and hormonal health in women with self-reported symptoms associated with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). Additionally, the study aims to observe the impact of the product on menstrual cycle structure and associated symptoms, on reproductive and metabolic markers, on body image concerns, anxiety and general well-being. A consumer-driven, decentralized observational clinical research study is therefore well-suited for examining the effects of this product in this population. We will examine the outcomes in a broad age-range of premenopausal women who have chosen to try this product. The study will incorporate participant reported outcome questionnaires and surveys and at-home blood specimen collection. There is no "doctor-patient" relationship as part of this research since the participant as a consumer is making the informed choice to try the product and take part in the observational process with self-reported measures, cycle tracking and at-home blood sample collection. Findings from this study will contribute knowledge toward the tolerability and formulation of the product and the design of future studies.

Trial weblink: https://www.memoryexam.com/job/norms/ Participants enrolled in this study will complete a single-session, non-invasive, computerized cognitive assessment administered through a secure, web-based digital platform. The purpose of the study is to establish normative cognitive performance data from healthy adults aged 18-100 years and develop age-, sex-, and education-adjusted reference values for the digital assessment platform. This is an observational study and does not involve any therapeutic intervention, investigational treatment, or alteration of routine medical care. Following electronic informed consent, participants will complete a standardized screening questionnaire to determine eligibility. The questionnaire collects demographic information, education, English language proficiency, medical and neurological history, psychiatric history, medication use, substance use, sleep history, and self-reported cognitive concerns. Standardized mood screening instruments (PHQ-9 and GAD-7) are also administered. Individuals meeting predefined exclusion criteria that could significantly influence cognitive performance will not be included in the normative dataset. Eligible participants will then complete a digital cognitive assessment battery using standardized visual and auditory instructions. The platform utilizes automated voice-recognition technology to capture spoken responses and standardized algorithms to score performance, eliminating the need for examiner scoring and ensuring consistent administration across participants. Total study participation, including consent, screening, and testing, is approximately 30 to 45 minutes. The cognitive battery evaluates multiple cognitive domains commonly assessed during neuropsychological examinations. Language abilities are assessed through phonemic and semantic verbal fluency tasks, measuring the ability to rapidly generate words within specified categories. Confrontation naming is evaluated using digitally presented images that participants identify verbally. Learning and memory are assessed through immediate and delayed verbal recall tasks, including recognition memory measures. Attention and working memory are evaluated using forward and backward digit span tasks. Executive functioning and attention are further assessed using a brief computerized problem-solving task. Equivalent alternate versions of selected tasks may be administered to minimize practice effects while measuring the same cognitive domains. All assessments are brief, non-invasive, and completed using spoken responses. The platform automatically records participant responses, response timing, and scoring metrics. Voice recordings are collected solely to support automated scoring and quality assurance. All electronic data are transmitted using encrypted connections and stored within HIPAA-aligned cloud infrastructure. Personally identifiable information is stored separately from cognitive performance data using unique study identification numbers, and only authorized study personnel have access to identifiable information. De-identified data will be used to generate normative reference values. A subset of approximately 100 participants may be invited to complete a second assessment 2-4 weeks after the initial visit to evaluate test-retest reliability. Participation in this follow-up assessment is voluntary. Participants will not receive diagnostic results or individualized interpretations of their performance because the study is intended solely to establish normative reference data. If responses on the PHQ-9 suggest potential acute self-harm risk, the platform will provide crisis resources and notify the study team in accordance with the study safety procedures. The primary outcome of the study is the development of age-, sex-, and education-adjusted normative reference values for the digital cognitive assessment platform, supporting standardized interpretation of future assessments in clinical and research settings.

This study investigates whether transcranial electrical stimulation (tES) delivered during structured language-learning sessions affects the rate and quality of second-language acquisition in adults. Adults who are learning or planning to learn a new language are randomly assigned in equal numbers to receive either active stimulation or sham (placebo) stimulation while completing structured language-learning content. Participants wear a non-invasive transcranial electrical stimulation headset that delivers a low-level electrical current through electrodes resting on the scalp, targeting cortical regions associated with language. Sessions typically last 20 to 30 minutes and may be completed at home or in person at a participating language program. Language proficiency is measured with a standardized assessment before and after the intervention period, with additional app-derived performance metrics and participant-reported measures collected throughout. A follow-up assessment may be conducted up to 12 months after the intervention ends to evaluate whether any observed effects persist. In this study the device is applied as a learning aid in healthy adults. It is not used to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

The Many Roads to Trauma Recovery: A Clinical Trial Comparing Empirically Supported Treatments for1

Veterans with co-morbid posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and substance use disorders (SUDs) are at substantial risk of developing hypertension and cardiovascular diseases that often lead to premature death, with some evidence that they may die over 10 years earlier than their counterparts. As such, determining ways to improve their health outcomes is vital. Heart Rate Variability Biofeedback (HRVB) may be one way to restore autonomic balance and teach veterans with PTSD / SUDs how to respond differently to their symptoms. Multiple studies have found that HRVB not only improves autonomic nervous system (ANS) regulation / flexibility among veterans with PTSD, but also reduces PTSD symptoms. Additionally, there is evidence that HRVB reduces cravings and SUD symptoms. Currently it is proposed that the improvement in the PTSD and SUD symptoms are due to a combination of improving ANS regulation and veterans utilizing the HRVB techniques as coping strategies for their symptoms. Yet, none of these studies examined how HRVB versus other active interventions differentially effected symptoms and physiological outcomes. It may be useful to examine HRVB to other active interventions . The current project proposes to alleviate this gap by examining the effects of HRVB to one a active control condition (i.e., Present Centered Psychotherapy; PCT) among 50-residential veterans engaging in PTSD residential programming. Veterans will be recruited from residential programs at the Coatesville VAMC and screened for probable PTSD and an active (i.e., past year) SUD. If eligible, they will attend a brief visit that will include being randomized, engaging in a diagnostic interview, a battery of questionnaires related to PTSD / SUDs, attached to physiology equipment, and then complete 3 tasks (i.e., baseline task, emotion induction, and HRVB or Self-Compassion Break). Upon task completion, all veterans will be screened for risk and begin one of the conditions. Similar research procedures will be conducted after their final session. This study would provide evidence for the real-world effectiveness of HRVB compared to a control condition among one of the highest risk populations treated at the VA, which may provide invaluable insight into active mind-body treatments for veterans with PTSD / SUD.
